On June 5 it was celebrated the world day of the Environment,
for it the Atamu Tekena street was closed only for pedestrians and different stand of exhibition settled on the topic. Samples
of native flora, garbage and recycling, children works, ecological tourism, etc... In the square there was a music,
dance and hoko show.

Te Mau o te Vaikava o Rapa Nui

Michel Garcia, from ORCA diving Center has launched
a new DVD called Te Mau o te Vaikava o Rapa Nui (The submarine world from Rapa Nui). The DVD was already
presented to entrepreneurs and Authorities of the Island and on May 21st to the general public through the local TV channel. The
DVD has beautiful submarine pictures filmed exclusively in the Island.

Eco Nui 2006 Sports Competition

To celebrate the month of the sea of May, Echo Nui 06 organizes KORI RAPA NUI, sports competitions that include
Triathlon (canoeing, mountain bike and swimming), Surfing, Bodyboard and Trekking. The inscriptions are opened for any category
in makemake. The awards will be the best.
Triahlon: On Saturday,20th 10:00 AM. Trekking: On Saturday, 13th 10:00 AM. Surfing and Bodyboard: between
6th and 26th depending weather conditions.

Rapa Nui on Quiksilver Brasil Competition

Nicolas Soler Hotus and Tonchi Pakomio Aguilera,
travel to Iquique this month to take part from May 6 until May 22 in the competition of Surfing organized by the Association
of Surfing of Iquique. To support this sports young Rapa Nui people makemake sponsored them with a 7" board. Also, Benjamín Pakarati Gonzáles will go away
of trip to Brazil, to ISA WORLD JUNIORS take part of the QUIKSILVER in the beach of Maresias in Sao Paulo, from May 6 until
May 14.

In March a delegation of approximately 50 people went from Rapa Nui to New Zealand to
participate in the HOE VAKA World Outrigger Sprints. We hope that they should keep on training for the next Championship
to be celebrated in California, USA

During April 2006 we were visited by a delegation of RED BULL, with the intention of advancing
in the arrangements for the competition of the de Tangata Manu (bird Man) competition. For this time, the competition
will have only Rapa Nui participants, to be prepeteated in the coming years with X-treme competitors around the world.
It will probably be celebrated in September, and although the award is not clear,
they are expected to be very good
